Trent-Madison and Mt. Vernon areas road hunting very slow

We spent Sunday road hunting north of Sioux Falls and Monday hunting north of Mt. Vernon. Both areas very slow and we saw a lot of birds last year in the same area around Mt. Vernon. Saw few roosters and relatively few hens this year. Not many other road hunters either. Glad I have a farm...

I'm a little encouraged on the future of hunting

    bad day hunting near Mitchell

I road hunted in the Mt. Vernon-Plankinton area today but saw very little under the windy conditions. My dog flushed a few hens but the only roosters I saw flew across the road when driving back to the motel. How did others do?

will hawks attack a small dog?

I hunt with Brittanies and today was the second time I have seen hawks buzz within 30 feet of the dog, apparently thinking about making a run at it. I thought I might have to shoot the damn hawk to keep him away. Has anyone else had this experience?

impressions of first time in ND

I had hunted SD 3 times in the past but thought I would try ND for a week this year. Hunted in the Belfield-Dickinson area. I do individual hunting with a pointing dog, really don't care for 5 or more guys abreast drive hunting. We usually do a lot of road hunting in SD. Most of the good...
