    Bird limits

It’s MN and MN DNR. Don’t think he has ever been cited for anything, and he did contest the citation but loss. Again, we were a bunch of LEOs and at the end of the day, we understand that the COs has a job to do.

    Bird limits

Buddy didn’t get a wanton waste ticket. Like I said above, the DNR knew that no one was able to retrieve the birds that flew a few hundred yards into nothing but cattails. They told my buddy that he was over limit by two birds. If he would have counted the two ducks and stop shooting, he...

    Bird limits

It was not the attempt of recovering the bird. The COs knew it was impossible and understood why we weren’t able to cross the marsh and through several hundred yards of cattails. According to the COs, it was two dead birds whether recovered or not and it should have been counted towards the...

    Bird limits

This evening, I was able to flush 2 roosters and drop them both. But unfortunately lost one in the thick cattails. I think the bird may have ran off and the pup couldn’t catch up to it. Anywho, I came back to the truck at 330 as another hunter pulled into the parking lot. I told him I was...

    2023 Season

I would have thought no hunters on the weekdays and both days we hunted, several people were out. Most of the easier access fields had vehicles. But the nice thing so far about pheasant hunting is the respect and etiquette I’ve seen compare to gun deer season. With the cold nights, the...

    2023 Season

Still learning the upland game with my year old pup. Tuesday morning my son and I hunted 30 mins south of the metro in a heavily hunted wma. We were able to flush 3 hens and 3 roosters for an 1 hour hunt. Poor shooting resulting to only 1 rooster but we are enjoying our pup work the birds...

    2023 Season

Went out to Lac on Monday before the snow storm. Flushed 9 hens and 2 roosters in 2 hours. All the hens held tight and roosters were flushing 70-80 yards out. No shot but it was a fun cold hunt.

    2023 Season

My son and I tried a new spot on Monday evening. An hour west of the Twincities. 1/2 hour before sunset, my son shot one by the edge of a crp next to private. We then flush another rooster as we got near the parking lot. When we got to the car, there was a guy on his ATV waiting for us. He...

    Ticks

Still a fairly new dog owner. Just wondering how do you guys deal with ticks? My lab takes Bravecto pills every 3 months but that doesn’t stop her from having a ton of ticks. You guys use any sprays to prevent ticks? Thanks

    First year pheasant hunting

I’m new to upland hunting. First time pheasant hunting was last December. A buddy took my son and I on a trip to see how we like it. My son likes it so much that we bought a pup. This was my son and I first opener. Over the weekend, we were north of Marshall,MN hunting public lands. I have...
