    LF portable refrigerator suggestions

Dometic makes a really nice cooler, I personally don't have one but I have heard really good things about them.

    Looking for locals to guide?

Our group hunts all over NC & NW iowa during the season, I can tell you opening weekend will be difficult to find anyone with private land. Not to say it's impossible but it is by far more difficult to find. With that said if you don't have a dog, I would try and get down to the area you are...

    New Gun Safe

What do you run for humidity control in your safes? Looking at the systems that are out there they all seem to be about the same. Either the packets of beads/etc... or the rods that are powered from the outlet.

    New Gun Safe

Yea it weighs just shy of 800lbs empty, so it'll be fun to move once I get around to finishing my basement :ROFLMAO:

    New Gun Safe

I thought about it but the problem was I really was only budgeting to get the smaller 33 gun PF safe. And well the deal he was willing to give me on this one made it to hard to pass up. I think the wife might have killed me had I spent another $4-500 as this was already more than what we talked...

    New Gun Safe

Picked up a new gun safe this past weekend. it was 12hrs of driving to pick it up and come back home but for the price I got it for I would do it again in a heartbeat! $3500 dollar safe out the door for $2400 plus there is a $150 dollar rebate so it knocked it down to $2250. I know the rep for...

    A5 20ga

Scheels in Sioux Falls had a couple and Eden Prairie Scheels had 2 that both sold last weekend. They are starting to trickle into dealers.

20ga or 12ga for upland birds

28's all season for MN, IA and SD. No issues killing wild birds, just shoot good shells and you won't have issues.

    Might be a bismuth shortage.

I am not sure of the "stuff" that they align themselves with, and I honestly don't care. At the end of the day the shells they produce perform and that's all I care about. I will say that I have read in other places about the bismuth shortage soon to come if things don't change and I did go...

    Might be a bismuth shortage.

Just ordered 2 cases of Boss, 1 case of 20ga 3" #5's and 1 case of 28ga 3" #5's, still have over half a case of 28ga 2 3/4 #4's and a couple boxes of 20ga 3" 3/5 combo. Should be good for the next couple of seasons.

    Released birds - the numbers

I couldn't remember off the top of my head, I knew it wasn't high. Thanks for the info!

    28 gauge 11-87

Not sure why everyone bashes 28's and thinks they are for snobs or Gucci? I love shooting both of my 28's, they are light weight and joy to shoot. They aren't for everyone as they do present another challenging element to hunting wild birds, you have to be a good shot to consistently shoot well...

    Released birds - the numbers

Statistically speaking, released birds do not do well in the wild. Their survival rate is not very good, I would say if you released 100 birds you might be lucky to get 10% of those that survive to the next year. So in theory releasing pen birds won't have a significant impact on population the...

    Any members from NW"ish" Iowa?

Not from IA, I live in MN. But with that said once the season starts, I spend a lot of time in IA in NC & NW IA all season. It's closer for me to drive to northern part of IA then it is to drive to western part of MN for me hence why I do most of my hunting in IA all season, plus the 3 bird...
