Snowfall - It could get pretty tough out there

Finally a normal winter!! Keep some of the fair-weather hunters at home and let us late season guys have some fun :giggle:

    Newbie in SD this week

In years past I have always sent a Christmas card to farmers that have allowed me to hunt their land with a handwritten letter.

Ever gotten in trouble while outdoors alone?

As far as hunting related goes, I fell a couple years ago on some slick ice walking the edge of some cattails. I fell and dislocated my shoulder and was about a mile from the truck, temps were around 0 with about a -10 windchill. Trying to carry my gun, keep the dogs in check and navigate...

    Backup guns

I always bring at least 2 guns with me, even on day trips but when I head out of state I bring 3 with. I usually always bring my A400 20ga and then usually one or both of my A400 28ga's.

    Copper Shot?

Boss is nothing more than a great marketing company. Sure, they make great ammo, but with the switch to copper they are selling something that according to them is as good if not better than the bismuth it replaces even though they have no real-world data from hunters to back it up. It's ironic...

Asking a favor-history of pheasant hunting

My dad was born in 1950 and hunted western MN and IA in his late teens and early twenties, he said back then it was easy to get on private land. Limits were almost a given even without a dog. The stories my uncle and he would tell make me wish I was born back then, to see some of the stuff they...

    2025 season reports

I went through this exact thing a couple years back on MN opener with my 13-year-old lab at the time. She had a hard time making it through cover that years past she would have flown through. I shot 2 different birds, and she didn't even see them and barely heard me shoot. I knew at that moment...

    Pheasant Industry in SD

I have talked to a couple places/lodges that claim all wild birds, I told them great I am sold. But then I hit them with a question that always seems to make them backtrack. I ask them that if all their birds are wild, I shouldn't have to worry about shooting a bird with flared nostrils, right...

    Boots , what ya like?

Crispi or Kenetrek, both are great boots. They are both spendy but will last multiple years with proper care.

    New upland vest

Totally agree, I have had mine for a couple years and love it. I hunt with a bunch of guys and we all switched to Final Rise from our Wings Works and not one of us has a single complaint!

    Copper Shot?

Boss makes a 100% copper shot, it's their replacement for bismuth. I believe there are 1 or 2 other companies following suit to Boss. Luckily I have plenty of Bismuth in the safe to last me a couple of years so no worries here.

    Beretta Silver Pigeon

Why do you say it's a short-range gun? I have no issues with my 28ga out to 40yds. 1oz of #5's out of a 28ga at 1350fps is no different than 1oz of #5's out of a 12ga. Birds don't know the difference, just a little smaller pellet count. Need to be slightly more disciplined when shooting a 28ga.

    Gun wish list

Would like to get a Beretta 688 as a dedicated target gun and if Beretta would ever come out with it, I would love to get a .410 A400 to complete my set. Wishful thinking on my part for the .410 :ROFLMAO:

    The flush

I will say that the majority of the hunting you see on the Flush and Rooster Tales is fair chase wild birds. There have been episodes where they go to a lodge, and you can immediately see the difference in the birds. I have personally run into the Rooster Road trip guys when they were out a...

Hunting Quietly.. unfollowing hunting social media will make hunting better

This is exactly why a lot of people have issues with hot spotting. If you give the spot, area or even county in which you were hunting it doesn't take long for that area to be overrun with other hunters. All it takes is one guy going to a that spot, he then tells his other buddy who brings a...
