    Montana Ducks

Great pics AK! Those male shovelers & teal are really something this time of year (as are the rest)- been seeing quite a few turkey scouting - always have to stop and put eyes on them

    Remember Poly Chokes?

My dad had a Ted Williams pump 20 gauge with a poly choke installed - he gave it to me when I was a teenager - shot a handful of roosters with it, including my first mount; just never shot consistently well with it - it will be passed on to my son - polychokes had quite a run back in the day -...

    Overall season bird numbers

Agree with Matt's 20-30% up assessment. It's tougher to judge bird numbers early season - all the cover still standing, along with some standing crop, plus hunting pressure pushing birds around (very high hunter #'s this season). Late season, with snow on the ground, paints a clearer picture...

    Annual After Xmas trip

East River JB Hammered a yote too….son was pushing a 3-400 yard stretch of cattails S to N with both dogs - & I was blocking N on E side with W wind- he came trotting out - never saw or scented me As BB just said, lots of birds but tough to get close to - we always try to cut them off - they...

    Annual After Xmas trip

Thx Miforester, Forgot to mention about being careful on snow covered Min Maint roads; we backed into a spot to clean some birds, and dropped into a good sized rut filled with water.........needed 4WD to get out...........fortunately pretty easy......................we did avoid driving down...

    Annual After Xmas trip

Went with my son on our annual trip after Xmas Our timing was great, with fresh snow upon our arrival (the commute was a bit dicey - tail end of that major storm) A brief summary - We hunted a mix of CREP, WIA, min maint, & private - the bird population is very healthy from what we saw - a lot...

    SD trip 2023

Great posts guys! I could not handle the stress of farming either - a crop farmer can do everything perfect, and then becomes 100% reliant on mother nature (irrigation being the exception - a small % of total)- and look what's happened to our weather in just the past 5 years! Same with beef...

    SD trip 2023

Visiting good friends on our hunting excursions is the best part of the trip. Watching seasoned dogs perform and young dogs gain experience, is the most rewarding part. Nice to read what you guys do to show your appreciation- great stuff!! My wife picks out gifts for the women - it works out...

    Hotels in Huron

Have stayed there for years - Never thought to ask about a freezer for birds - good to know - rarely use the cleaning station, unless it's extremely cold; station on NE corner and you can park right by it - so convenient - "air" the dogs on N side of building. pretty sure the per dog fee is $20...

    Hotels in Huron

They have an enclosed bird cleaning station / no outside access to rooms / I think the per dog charge is now $20/night - you can call & confirm the cost

Accesscover.com - They sell products for this purpose - I installed one for my topper & they also have products for sealing tonneau covers.................... Not only trying to block as much dust as possible, but also water/snow that makes its way thru the gap between the tailgate bottom and...
